I ran across some old but wonderful unpublished blog posts. I love playing with magnets so much that we had a special magnetism project day!
To make the most of magnets:

  • explored a magnet sensory bin
  • played with magna tiles
  • created small worlds and magnetic characters that navigate them, see full project here.

This magnet sensory bin is filled with rice, metal objects, and non metal objects. Each child receives a magnet wand to test objects in the bin.

These plastic discs are wonderful to play with. There is a little metal ring around each so it sticks to the wand.

All ages love magnets.

Magna tiles are another favorite.

Teacher Julia explains who to magically turn markers into paint for our adventure plates. Hint: it is washable markers, water, and a paint brush.
